Deep Freeze

It's -29 outside, the snow is talking in crunchy squeaks and sharp little smokestacks emanate from every house and passing car. Today, the sauna is a must, the rolling outside in the snow: optional.
Cali & I are busy catching up on other peoples blogs (she's a fan) and contemplating what to post... she sends her regrets to anonymous for not owning a bee suit, however she possesses many other charms.
The CBC is telling all the wimpy Vancouverites to stay inside as it might hit 20 below (with the wind chill )...well if that were the case here, we'd all spend the better part of Nov-March watching Lost re-runs in our PJ's and collecting E.I. ...Instead, our intrepid Canadian Men's Alpine Ski team chose to hurl themselves down an icy mountain in -30 degrees, at speeds approaching 130 KPH, in skin tight speed suits, faces taped to prevent frostbite (think of the windchill factor here folks) and it paid off- with Rookie Manny(22) taking the silver in the first World Cup Downhill of the season at Lake Louise, and Kucera ( also 22) winning the Super -G the next day, bumping the indomitable Austrians off the podium entirely the first day!
-Unprecedented! -Great start to the season and looking good for 2010.
Hockey-schmockey, give me ski racing any day...

Novembre

It's getting frostier out side..., my valley is filled with ice dusted wild grass some mornings
but my espresso and the sunlight filtering through my window keeps me warm

Introducing....Cali

What's a barn without a kitten?
Nothing, I say nothing!!!
So please allow me to introduce you to the latest addition in my menagerie (that would be me and kitten, total: 2)
Cali; diminutive of Calista (Greek for most beautiful) ...or some days Caligula as she can be a most spoiled tyrant .
She purrs on cue and we have bonded. Now I'll save on heat this winter!

El Patio

OK, so technically it's not a patio , after all it is a barn.
I have my own little car port & deck on the upstairs side, and a cozy spot to catch the morning sun for coffee on the valley side (which is where we'll roll in the snow after sauna-ing)
...-so who's coming for Christmas?

Voila!

eh Voila! After many frustrating attempts, we have images...
( thanks to Samuel for tech support)

It's all about the view.
Every morning the first thing I do is patter down the hallway barefoot and throw open the curtains to see my valley.
It's never the same.

Too Lazy to write.....

I have caved,
...there's just not enough time to write everyone and tell the same stories over and over again...
So I've decided to blog a bit.
To become one more of the endless links on Dave & Leah's blogs...

I have to tell you how lucky I feel to be amongst the rare breed of 'Barn Dwellers", ( the human kind)

Less than a month ago I moved into a barn renovated by my own personal 'designer guy' friends,
David & Kevin.(who also bring me fresh produce from their gardens!)
Complete with hardwood floors, sauna, and a valley view with horses, I am finally getting settled and am as close to being at peace as I have been for a long time.

After spending the summer in a 450 square foot cabin by the lake, (my transition house, or 'cabinski' as I affectionately called it), the 1,100 sq. feet I now occupy seems palatial
A new sound system and a tv are in the works- yes David, you will now be able to watch Lost when you come and visit, and high speed internet!!!YIPPEE!!!
So I am officially wired for sound, open for business etc etc...
Oh yeah, and I am officially networking for a kitten to all you 100 Milers out there....Leah's pics of Figaro made me crazy and that's all that's missing here right now...
